Jules WABBES (1919-1974) Moulded plywood schooldesk with rectangular vinyl-coveredshelf Year 1960This desk was presented at the XII Milan Triennial (House and School: International Triennial Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts and Modern Architecture) in 1960 where it was awarded the gold medal and won the votes of the press. However, it was not published for schools because of the high manufacturing costs and the public's attraction to metal-framed furniture. The known examples are prototypes for the model class of the Triennale.Documentation is attached. 68 x 67 x 63 cm (accidents)Provenance: Former collection of Nele Huisman -architect- daughter of Jacques Huisman, friend of Jules Wabbes.
