题识：枝柳夕阳三月茂，轻舟荡破一湖烟。沛然二兄雅属，冯桂芬。||钤印：臣桂芬印、邓尉山人 |说明：冯桂芬，字林一，又字景亭，又作景庭，自号邓尉山人。江苏苏州人。清道光二十年（1840）进士，授翰林院编修，咸丰初在籍办团练，同治初，入李鸿章幕府。曾师从林则徐。少工骈文，中年后肆力古文，尤重经世致用之学。在上海设广方言馆，培养西学人才。先后主讲金陵、上海、苏州诸书院。为改良主义之先驱人物，最早表达了洋务运动“中体西用”的指导思想。著有《校邠庐抗议》、《说文解字段注考证》等。
