此香筒色泽褐黄，老化自然，皮壳光润，刀法打磨工整细腻，雕刻层次丰富。雕刻三位老者立于松树下闲谈，人物姿态鲜明，神情生动。一老者手往前伸，高举过头，指向远处云层中的红日，另外两位老者立于旁边顺势观望，意为“指日高升”。在古代“指日高升”为旧时官场预祝之词，寓意很快就可升官、加官进爵、步步高升之意。
