A Chinese celadon brown and black flecked jade cong, the tall rectangular body of square section, with short circular foot and rim, evenly carved from the top and bottom with a circular aperture, the exterior with four 'bamboo' pillars, the translucent stone of pale celadon tone with russet, black and brown streaks, approximately 9.3cm high x 9.5cm wide Provenance: Purchased by the current vendors late father in the 1960's from the George Family. By repute it was collected by the British officer Robin George during the Boxer rebellion, and thence by descent through his family.
