A Chinese purple-splashed 'Junyao' bowl, probably Song Dynasty, with slightly incurved sides rising at an angle from a neatly finished foot of wedge-shaped section, applied with a deep finely bubbled milky-blue glaze transmuting to a mushroom colour towards the rim and splashed with purple to the interior wall on one side, the glaze stopping in an uneven line above the foot and on the interior to reveal the brown body, 8cm diameter Compare with a bowl of similar shape, sold at Sotheby's, Hong Kong, Playthings from the Edward T.
