|整件由一块白玉圆雕而成，为十二辰之马形象，原应有一套共十二件。赵翼《陔余丛考》曰：十二相属之说起于东汉，汉以前未有言之者。古时的十二生肖俑也称“十二支神俑”，隋代已出现，盛行于唐代，以后历代均有。故宫旧藏一套玉十二辰组像，其中辰马造型与本件一致。
