款识：慎德堂制 |说明：水晶自古因晶莹清澈而为世人所珍，《新增格古要论》里记载：“古语云千年冰化为水晶，其性坚而脆，刀刮不动，色白如泉，清明而莹，无丝毫瑕玷击痕者为佳。”因水晶质地坚硬易崩口，较玉更甚，不易碾琢，则更加考验工匠的雕刻水平。此件方洗为整块水晶挖成，平口，短颈，折肩，倭角，口沿及肩部各作回纹一周，主体则为螭龙纹，底部刻款识“慎德堂制”，通体晶莹剔透，纹饰古拙，实为美器。“慎德堂”为圆明园内的一座宫殿建筑，是道光皇帝与咸丰皇帝在圆明园内居住的寝宫。道光皇帝在位期间的御用器物很多带有“慎德堂制”的款识。
