Iron Cross plate from the commander service ("Feldherrnservice") for the princes August and Wilhelm von Preussen. Made on behalf of King Friedrich Wilhelm III., Around 1819. Wide gold rim, colored oak and laurel wreath with the religious ribbons of the EK and the KDM 1813 bound, in the mirror the Iron Cross. Reverse scepter and eagle brand of KPM. Ø 24.5 cm. The plate comes from one of the seven gift services of King Frederick William III. to deserving generals (Prince August and Wilhelm v. Preussen, Prince of Hesse -Homburg, Generals Yorck v. Wartenburg, Tauentzien and Kleist of Nollendorf, Duke of Wellington), which were produced between 1817 and 1821 by the KPM. Hand-painted decor of high quality, very early decorative use of the Iron Cross on porcelain. See the exhibition catalog: The dinner service of the Duke of Wellington. Berlin 1988. The plates for the two princes were without coats of arms, the other service had beside the iron cross still the respective coat of arms of the gifted.
