Green Tara protecting from the fear of snakes (jealousy). Tibet. Buddhist thanka painting on canvas, 57 x 39.5 cm. Mounted in a brocade frame, around 122 x 84 cm. From private German collection. The Syama-Tara seated in rajalila-asana on a throne pedestal. Her right hand showing the varada mudra, her left hand holding a lotus flower. Wearing a peacock ornament in her hair as well some jewelry and clothes of an enlightened female Bodhisattva on her body. Three servants surround her. Two peacocks appearing at the sky and ground to her right side. In the lower part, two water snakes are depicted. One of them attacking a woman. Backside with Tibetan blessing syllables “Om, Ah, Hum”.
