Of compressed form with flat lip and recessed foot surrounded by a gilt foot rim, painted on each main side with a rounded panel, Yangcai enamels on colourless glaze on porcelain, one with a waterside landscape scene with pine and other trees and a mountain steam, the other side with a poem inscribed in clerical script followed by two iron-red seals of Qianlong, the panels surrounded by rounded borders design on a coral-red ground engraved with a tighter formalized floral scroll in gold, the base inscribed with Qianlong nianzhi (made in Qianlong period) in iron-red seal script. The Qianlong Emperor was a prolific poet composing some forty-two thousand poems during his life time. The poem brings good tidings at the arrival of spring. Height 7.5cm Width 5cm
