Each with the signature stamp of the artist and the publisher. Predominantly vertical obans. Up to 37 x 74 cm. Single sheets each 37 x 12.5 cm. In grey-blue Japanese paper envelope with snake skin print. Minor damage. Colours in very fresh condition. In this particular form a very rare piece. As a compendium, this leporello featuring the works of Kunisada and Kuniyoshi brings together two of the most important and innovative Japanese woodcut artists of the Edo period. The two were not only style-defining, but also extremely popular due to their high productivity. Their works influenced not only the Impressionists, particularly Vincent van Gogh, but also the Expressionists, including Alexej von Jawlensky, who himself amassed a large collection of Japanese art. The leporello includes composite colour woodcuts of 6 sheets (13), 4 sheets (3) and 2 sheets (3).
