铭文：|一、惟清斋|二、职以居默，体以浑圆。如德人厚，厥用坦然。介石|三、伴我后半生，谷牧 |说明：此砚台质地细润，取端石上等石材琢成。随形而制，砚膛广而微凹，可聚墨，其上方砚池深挖并起边缘线。从背面刻铭文可知，这方砚台陪伴谷牧多年，为其自用砚。|“惟清斋”，是清代乾隆四大家铁保的斋号，活跃于清乾隆、嘉庆、道光年间，为官近五十年，官居一品。他主编《白山诗介》、嘉庆皇帝赐名的《熙朝雅颂集》，著有《惟清斋全集》，书法上先后有《惟清斋字帖》、《人贴》、《惟清斋法帖》等。
