Professionally restored, cleaned and relined. Now on replaced modern stretcher. Small flecks of paint loss along roof line, considerable in-painting within central figures and lower foreground; believe to be in areas of cleaning and re-varnishing, examined under black light. Note: One of the artist's well-known paintings is titled "The Laundress" sold in the rooms of Christie’s New York, on October 27, 2014, Auction Lot: 12. One could project that the painting being offered today is a sequel to "The Laundress" and that the beggar in the painting is the same woman in later years. Provenance: From the Private Collection of a well-known Fine Art collector from Southern Maine.Dates: (French 1823 - 1896).Frame: Molded Gold Gilt Gesso and Wood.Medium: Oil on Canvas.Signature: Lower Left "Laugee fils".Title: "Beggar At The Door".
