In the manner of Louis XV, late 19th century, French. Nice example with shaped turtle hinged rectangular top, the gilt bronze border and edges leaf carved and cast with scrolling corners, centering a wide tortoiseshell frame, further centering a beveled glass plate. The hinge top opening to a pale green Moray silk compartment. The serpentine apron also with tortoiseshell inserts, raised on cabrio legs cast with scrolling and leaf tips, terminating in scrolling sabots. Retains original key with a matching tassel of later vintage. Normal and expected wear, some cracking to the tortoiseshell panels, back of hinged top is showing some signs of separation between the tortoiseshell and mount attached to the hinge, does not distract from overall. Gilt metal mounts in very good condition. Overall very good. Condition: Dimensions: 10" x 15" x 11".
