Early to mid 18th century. Forged iron. Spring leaded elliptical curved thumb grip with notch decorated end, adjoining squared then rounded long tapered ember grips and small penny ended jaws. The other arm having curved and tapered cleanout pin with elliptical handle sharply tapering to round snakey end with penny shaped tobacco tamper. Pinned spring arm with tri-leafage decorated end. Fine craftsmanship throughout, untouched age blackened surfaces, working order in very fine, untouched original condition. Condition: Dimensions: 19" x 7".
