19th century, Continental. The bronze Slavic cross cast with an allegorical history of the crucifixion of Christ in picture form, including such details as a lance and pole with sponge on either side of Christs body, an illustration of the wall of Jerusalem by the foot bar and an image of a skull beneath the Slavic letters that translate to "The place of the skull, where Adam was". The cross is 13" tall x 6-1/2" wide. The bronze image of the crucifixion figure modeled in low relief and with undisturbed surface, 7-1/4" long x 7-1/2" wide. Most likely was once attached to a crucifix. Both are in very good condition. Provenance: From a Private collection, many which were decommissioned from The Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, New York in the mid 20th century. Condition: Dimensions: Largest: 13" x 6-1/2".
