A set of twelve Japanese enameled porcelain orange ground "Boys" dishes Each dish decorated with a wide border of eight Chinese boys playing amongst pines, centered by three prunus branches, the underside with apocryphal six-character Qianlong mark. Approx. D: 9 1/2 in.; 24.5cm PROVENANCE: Henry Loomis (1839-1920), great grandfather of the present owner, acquired in Japan thence by descent to the present owner NOTE: Henry Loomis was a soldier in the Civil War who went to Japan in 1871 as a missionary, he is buried in Yokohama
