Nautical Interest - A Collection of Antique and Later Sailor's Fids. Made of various hardwoods, including rosewood, these fids were used to work/splice rope and canvas on ships (9). They vary in size and width, one of the oldest and largest being approx 50 cms, with the others, approx 51, 39, 38, 32, 27 and 26 cms respectively together with a reel of original . Also included is a reel of twine and book entitled 'Sailing ship Rigs and Rigging' by Harold A. Underhill (Printed 1938).
