|These two bronzes in the present lot are both based on full-size marble groups originally made for the gardens of Versaille in the second half of the 17th Century.The Rape of Proserpina, after a Sevres model by Louis-Simon Boizot, is a variation on the marble group by Francois Girardon (1628-1715); and the Abuction of Orithyia is based on the marble group by the French sculptors Gaspard Marsy (1624-1681)and Anselme Flamen (1647-1717).
