钤印：臣周棠印、周棠之印、兰西少白、漫云、闭门即是深山等 提要：周棠(1806—1876)清代画家。字召伯，一字少白，号兰西，按寨松阁谈艺琐录作周兰。山阴(今浙江绍兴)人。官光禄寺署正。写意花卉酷似徐渭、陈淳。山水则师石溪、石涛。晚年专画石，具各种皴法，轮囷磊砢，洞窍玲珑。张之万称之为清代画石第一。朝鲜使者每乞其画归。能诗，兼工篆、隶，善刻印章。咸丰八年著竹石画范，卒年七十一。
