|Easily recognized by his great locks and facial hair, Tangtong Gyalpo Tsondru Zangpo (c.1385-1464) is one of the most distinctive figures in Tibetan history. The artist has cast him with a vase of medicine in his lap and a few links of an iron chain in his right hand, evoking Tangton Gyalpo's legacy as both a great healer and engineer.
