|“玉山子”为两宋时期出现之特殊玉品，《宋史·礼乐志》“宴飨”条云：“（真宗）诏辅臣观粟于后苑御山子。”记叙真宗皇帝与群臣观赏御廷中之石假山之事，事后君臣造词作诗以资留念，后玉工受此启发，将整块璞玉精雕细作，使其形如山状，始做“玉山子”。此白玉山子造型高大厚实、依玉材形状琢雕成耸立山峰状，雕工细腻。山崖峭壁、苍松长阶，十六罗汉分布其间，恰到好处，与整体形态配合天衣无缝。
