A part-set of octagonal famille verte dishes


KangxiEach dish with a moulded 'pie-crust' rim, the well enamelled in a palette of green, yellow, aubergine, black, blue, iron-red and gilt with a court lady playing a zither on a table in a terraced garden, with a scholar and hidden attendant observing the scene, surrounded at the rim with four cartouches enclosing fish and butterflies, reserved on a floral ground. The largest: 35cm (13 3/4in) diam. (7).
