The rich double armorial panelled back below a scallop shell carved crest rail, between sweeping scroll arms, raised on cabriole legs, terminating on claw and ball feet. A similar settee was in the drawing room at Kilmurry, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland then the residence of, arguably, Ireland’s most accomplished watercolourist Mildred Anne Butler (1858 – 1941).
