A SYDNEY PRIVATE COLLECTION OF CHINESE PAINTINGS一悉尼中國書畫私人收藏Lot 130 to 136Traditionally Australia was not a place where Chinese paintings was a staple in the secondary market. Even when specialised sales of Asian works of art started to attract an influx of enthusiastic collectors following the exponential growth of Chinese art market internationally since the mid 2000s, Chinese paintings remained an obscure subject locally, often being branded as esoteric. Australia, however, is a place where great collections finally settled, and occasionally great Chinese paintings are amongst other heirlooms. Works in this collection, assembled locally during the 2000s, were all acquired from local auctions, some simply catalogued as 'An oriental painting'. These works, ranging from great examples of the fine court style of bird and flower paintings, to modern and reformed landscapes, attest the keen eye and the fine taste of the collector.中國書畫由來不是澳洲二手藝術市場的主角。即使兩千年後全球中國藝術市場倔起，澳洲當地以亞洲藝術為主題的拍賣吸引大量收藏愛好者，中國書畫仍是冷門。然而澳洲是諸多重要亞洲藝術最終安身的場所，其中亦不乏書畫。此輯私人收藏的中國書畫，大都於十多年前悉尼當地拍賣行尋得，從院體工筆花鳥，到革新傳統山水，足見藏家敏銳獨到的眼光。
