Attributed to Joseph-Emmanuel ZwienerLate 19th centuryCentred to the top by a clock flanked by mermaid caryatids, above two drawers, the upper-structure with side cupboard doors, surmounted by a group of dancing figures after Clodion, the bases signed Clodion, the sides flanked by twin-light caryatids, the bombé cylinder opening to a fitted interior with pull-out writing surface, six drawers and pigeon holes, above five frieze drawers, the reverse with plaque depicting a ploughed field with a reclining figure and fruit-filled cornucopia, raised on cabriole legs joined by oak leaves garlands to the sides, on paw feet.height 84in (213cm); width 76in (193cm); depth 36in (91cm)
