Rock Crystal Quartz Bonbonniere--"The Polo Player" by Manfred Wild


Idar-Oberstein, Germany Carved of rock crystal quartz which is nearly optically clear, this fine quality box of circular outline, is reverse intaglio carved and has a removable lid entirely rimmed in 18K yellow gold. The sides depict views of eight polo players and the lid is decorated with the engraving of a larger polo player. The lid is surmounted by a handle formed of a large circular green cabochon tourmaline. The entire piece is mounted with generous borders of 18K yellow gold. The octagonal shaped base which is removable is carved of a thick slab of green aventurine quartz and is also rimmed in 18K gold. Diameter of box: 7 in. Width of base: 7 3/4 in
