Thulite Intarsia Box by Konstantin Libman
First discovered in Telemark, Norway in 1820, Thulite is named after the mythical island of Thule in Scandinavian folklore. Thulite is a translucent, massive manganese-bearing variety of the mineral zoisite. Frequently mottled with white calcite, it is rare to find thulite of such homogeneous color and with such a rich saturation of hue. Expert lapidary work is in evidence in this beautiful box created from slabs of thulite which have been beautifully matched at the seams. The lid, with piano hinge, opens to reveal a wood lined interior bordered by onyx. Measuring 6 3/4 x 6 1/4 x 2 1/4 in
|Offered in a custom-fitted wooden presentation case.
