A Chinese Shoushan stone from the mountains of Fujian province, also known as, soapstone carving of Guanyin holding a ruyi wand and a strand of prayer beads from the 18th century. The figure sits on a dark stone pedestal carved with lotus patterns. Guanyin's cloak is etched with cloud motifs. Dimensions are: the soapstone figure excluding the base measures 7 inches tall X 3 1/2 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The figure's foot has become disconnected, and the bottom shows evidence of repair. Provenance: From a collector in Honolulu, Hawaii.
