Of a globular body with long flared foot, finely decorated in gold lacquer and shibayama style inlaid panels, with Oni (ogre) and Fujimusume (Wisteria maiden), both aboard on a ferry boat, the other panel with flying butterflies and quails beside autumn flowers, the sides and foot with brocade patterns of geometric and floral motif in various lacquer techniques, applied with ivory knap in the form of the ‘finger citron’, and dragon handles, 20cm H.金蒔絵象嵌蓋付壺 明治時代 Provenance: Sotheby’s, 27.07.1948 lot 50.
