A Chinese stone statue of Buddha dating from the Eastern Wei dynasty (534 - 550) . The statue is incised with a Buddha on the back, 2 guardian lions are carved on the pedestal, and 2 more guardian lions in the front. The Buddha on the front is flanked by 2 Bodhisatvas. Dimensions are: 16 1/4 inches tall X 8 1/2 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The top is broken off and there is significant chipping, wear, and loss to the surface. Provenance: From Mrs. Weiser in Miami, FL, purchased by her father in the 1950s while living in Buffalo, NY through antique dealers in New York City.
