A Chinese lidded porcelain bowl by He Xuren. There are 4 characters on the top of the lid, and the body has an inscription and 1 seal. The lid and body each feature a snowy scene with fishermen on a river. Dimensions are: 4 1/2 inches tall X 7 1/2 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There are 3 hairline cracks in the bowl, a small chip in the lid, and a few firing defects in the lid. Provenance: From the estate of General Li Pingxian (1890-1987). During the Northern Expedition, he served as the commander of the Eighth Army of the National Revolutionary Army, the Chief of Staff of the Fourth Group Army, and concurrently the Commander-in-Chief of the Three Towns of Wuhan. In his military career, he fought in major battles including the Battle of Shanghai, the Battle of Xuzhou, the Battle of Taierzhuang and the Battle of Wuhan.
