VESSEL IN THE SHAPE OF TWO SNAKESVESSEL IN THE SHAPE OF TWO SNAKESTerracotta Colima, West-Mexico, ca. 100 - 300 Characterful vessel with a large, funnel-shaped mouth with a completely flat bottom. The snake’s bodies are curved, and lie on opposite sides of the vessel, forming a shape similar to the Chinese yin and yang symbol. Their flat heads have deeply engraved details and their scales are suggested by scattered notches. On the funnel-shaped mouth is a geometric line pattern painted in red, unfortunately only partially preserved. Traces of a snake body are also visible. The Colima culture existed between ca. 200 BCE and 400 CE.
