A Large Chinese Carved Three-Color Cinnabar Lacquer Covered Box, Qing Dynasty, 19th century 7-1/4 x 14-3/4 inches (18.4 x 37.5 cm) The covered box, round in shape, with three-color lacquered surface profusely carved in various levels of relief with raised red elements on yellow and black ground, including a large landscape vignette populated by several figures, some examining a scroll, to the center of the cover and smaller genre scenes contained in cartouches separated by various motifs to the sides of the cover and box, the interior and underside lacquered black.
