A set of three late George III silver shaped oval graduated serving plates by Robert Garrard I, London 1815, with raised gadrooned rims and engraved with coats-of-arms, one 36cm (14in) long, two 33cm (13in) long, 2795g (89.85 oz) The arms of Sir Charles BRUDENELL-BRUCE (1773-1856), 2nd Earl of Ailesbury, who in 1821 was created 1st Marquess of Ailesbury, 3rd and only surviving son of Thomas BRUDENELL (1729-1814), the 1st Earl Bruce, by his first wife Susanna Hoare (1732-83) of Stourhead, the widow of Charles Boyle, Viscount Dungarvan. In 1793 he married in Florence the Hon. Henrietta HILL (died 1831) daughter of Noel Hill (1745-1789), 1st Baron Berwick, by Anna Vernon, daughter of Henry Vernon and Lady Henrietta Wentworth.
