Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Reign Period DouCai Chrysanthemum porcelain garlic bottle vase. Feminine ovoid body, with bulbous lower region sweeping up into a slender neckline and onion-shaped top portion. The outer surface is covered in a pale-white glaze with various soft tone color in Doucai design depicted Chrysanthemum flower blooms, interlocking scrolling vines and foliage around the surface belly. The neck is banded toward the bottom and the onion head is partitioned into symmetric lobes. The middle neck vase decorated with Auspicious pattern and scrolling tendril interspersed with double blue fine lines. The shoulder surrounded with upturning lappets, and repeating scrolling ruyi clouds on the upper mouth rim. Double fine blue ring on the shoulder, upper mouth rim and on the foot base. DouCai means soft colors which fit together which is evident in this harmoniously painted bowl. The artistry is a combination of underglazed blue outlines and enamels added on top of the fired glaze, within the outlines. Chrysanthemum is a treasured flower in China and is a symbol of joy and a wish for peaceful retirement. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant finish that was applied by a meticulous glaze craftsman.The underside bear a reign mark, a six under-glazed blue seal script characters reign mark, Made in The Years of Qianlong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
