选用珍贵的翡翠为原料制作烟壶，其整体造型线条优美流畅，刀法娴熟自然。烟壶配翡翠钮、圆口厚唇、短直颈、深腹、腹至胫部渐收、底落圈足。一面浮雕刘海戏金蟾为主题纹饰，岸边松下的刘海左手举一枚硕大的铜钱，满心欢喜，在其身前一只蟾蜍越水而出，腾于半空之中，似要争夺刘海手中的铜钱。另刘海戏金蟾是民间常见的传统题材，传说刘海收服了千年的金蟾，民间有“刘海戏金蟾，一步一吐钱”之说，此件既是以此为题，寓意吉祥。
