Large gilt, turquoise, floral fluted vase with lids. Cyrillic initial of Empress Catherine.A pair of monumental covered porcelain footed vases, white ground and over painted with a deep saturated in a color between peacock and ocean blue, highlighted with gilt and a profusion of hand painted flowers. These visually stunning items are decorated with gilt piping and hundreds of colorful hand decorated flowers on white backgrounds bordered in gold. On the underside of each vase, the Imperial Cyrillic blue script "E" mark (for Ekaterina, or Catherine II, the Great) attributed to the Imperial Porcelain Factory in St Petersburg, c. 1762-1796. The Imperial Porcelain Factory was established in 1744 and is also referred to as the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory.
