An American Impressionist oil painting by Louis Betts (1873-1961)A portrait of Elizabeth Norton, co-founder of the Norton Museum of Art, by artist Louis Betts, graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (1894) and member of the National Academy of Design (1915). His work is part of the permanent collection of the Chicago Art Institute, The Indianapolis Museum of Art, The Morris Museum of Art, the Richmond Art Museum and U.S. Senate Art Collection. About the Norton Museum: Founded in 1941 by Ralph Hubbard Norton (1875-1953) and his wife, Elizabeth Calhoun Norton (1881-1947). Norton headed Acme Steel Company in Chicago. He and his wife held a sizable collection of paintings and sculpture.
