An English walnut desk, no maker's mark, CC41 mark, circa 1950, in the manner of Gordon Russell, 100cm high, 91cm wide, 56cm deep The CC41 mark was used as a sign that furniture produced during the war and just after conform to Utility standards. The letters stand for Civilian Clothing but were also used on furniture to demonstrate that the design was simple and made the best use of available materials. It ceased to be used in 1952.
