ϒA preserved lion head, Panthera leo, E. Gerrard & Sons, first quarter 20th century, maker's label for E. Gerrard & Sons, Naturalists and Furriers 61 College Place London, approx. 50 cm in length Edward Gerrard established the firm in 1850 with his son Edward Gerrard jr. whilst chief taxidermist at the British Museum and set up the taxidermy business and specialised in preparing skeletons for anatomy teaching. Edward was an friend of Charles Darwin. The Firm was based at 61 College Place from 1906 until it folded in the mid 1960s.ϒIndicates that this lot may be subject to CITES regulations when exported.
