A Chinese, porcelain, Wucai jar and cover of baluster form with a flared foot and straight neck rising from the shoulder. A green and yellow lappet band encircles the base with large white panels containing: phoenixes and floral groupings against a background of speckled green decorated with red and yellow flowers and shoots. A darker green patterned band sits on the shoulder, floral vignettes against a simple white along the neck. The wide brimmed domed lid repeats these decorative motifs. Concentric blue circles can be seen on the underside. The dark wooden stand is carved in the shape of repeating ruyi heads H: 17 1/4" (43.8cm) D: 9 1/2" (24.1cm) Condition: A hole drilled in the center of both the bottom of the jar and the lid to facilitate its former use as a lamp. Otherwise in good condition.
