Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Pair of Persian or Turkish saddlebags, 19th century, with knotted pile and design in red, yellows, and browns. The bags are constructed of two 'rugs' bordered in leather, which are then joined to a third piece of which only the center section has a knotted pile, on either side of a leather lined slit. The upper leather sections of each bad have leather loops, 5 each when intact. The reverse shows the woven foundation in a dense, rough wool. Dimensions are: 53 1/2 inches long X 18 3/4 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The leather parts have stiffened with age and begun to crack, some of the knotting has come out and left bare sections. The seam on one side of the saddlebags has come partially undone.
