Chinoiserie fire screen, black and gold lacqurered wood with two embroidered side panels. Probably English and late 19th - early 20th century. Dimensions are: 34 3/8 inches high X 25 inches long X 10 1/4 inches wide at feet. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Surface abrasions throughout, some peeling of lacquer in central scene; 2 areas where application of force has caused shattering of lacquer and some chipping. Embroidered panels well preserved behind glass. Chip to wood at right upper corner of screen.
