(4) Illuminated manuscript pages from the Indian subcontinent, 18th-19th century. 3 of the illuminations have inscriptions in Arabic script, the 4th has an inscription in Devanagari (used for Sanskrit and Hindi), depicting the god Vishnu surrounded by female worshippers. Gouache on paper. Dimensions are: smallest page - 6 1/4 inches long X 3 3/4 inches wide; remaining three in identical mattes and frames - 11 5/8 inches long X 9 5/8 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: While not examined out of frame, the manuscript pages appear undamaged,though two framed pages with Arabic inscriptions show light foxing around the unpainted borders.
