签名潘鹤 1984 3/6 说明 附艺术家亲笔书法“开荒牛”《开荒牛》紧绷着全身，右边的前蹄因用力而折过来用蹄背撑住。牛头低向地面，牛角向前冲，整个身体凝聚着巨大的力量，仿佛马上就要迸射出来。体现了改革大潮中，人民群众意气风发、吃苦耐劳和勇往直前的精神。此件雕塑作品形体从里边尽量向外膨胀、扩展，而外边却有一相反的力量向里挤压，表现形体的“雕塑美”、“生命力”充分发挥雕塑美的同时也仍然保持了有利的渲染效果，这正是发挥所长，匠心独运了。在1987年《开荒牛》获全国首届城市雕塑评奖最佳奖。
