皮色自然，黄红之色，包浆清洗过，露出竹子因岁月而留下的原始皮色。雕工细腻，刻出庭院人物，松树之下，窈窕淑女与牵马君子双手作揖，含情脉脉，依依不舍，书童和马夫不忍打搅，躲在马、赏石之后探出头偷偷窥视。挺拔的松树之间，隐匿着长亭，此场景正是对明代著名《西厢记·长亭送别》的刻画。此品无论人物、山石还是构图都具有明显的清中期嘉定派竹雕的特点，别有江南细腻文气的艺术风格，精工精益之作。
