Important Early Chinese Silk & Gold Metal- Thread Imperial Xinjiang 'Palace Rug' The Noble Eightfold Path (Signed: Bao He Dian = Made For The Hall Of Preserved Harmony In The Forbidden-City Beijing) 'Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period', West China, 18th century, pure silk/gold-metal-threads/cotton- foundation, approx. 248 x 160 cm, condition: (Oxidations, traces of age/use), early and rare chinese imperial palace-rug with the noble eightfold path pattern, borders with symbol ornamentation, the forbidden city consisted of different palaces, each of these palaces had several rooms in which these palace rugs hung, the writings of this important rug with old chinese scriptures indicates that this piece is made for the imperial palaces in Beijing for the hall of preserved harmony (Bao He Dian), the hall of the middle harmony 'Zhong He Dian' and the hall of preserved harmony 'Bao He Dian' belongs to the official areas, in these halls the emperor govern, absolutely rare, museum quality, (Literature comp.: D.Leslie Blau & Danon, The Flower of Buddha, Silk and Metal Carpets from the Forbidden City, p.70/71, No.15).
