|此炉为铜质，仿商周青铜器簋型制，器呈圆形。炉唇口微奢，颈部内收，左右出兽吞式双耳。鼓腹下垂，底落圈足，配饰如意纹、兽面纹、缠枝纹等纹样。器身采用锤雕工艺炉耳浮雕鎏金龙首，庄重威严，器身环周以锦纹为地，形象生动，刻画精细。器表为古铜沉郁之色，浮雕与阴刻交错，十分典雅。炉底刻有“云间胡文明制”款，框内鎏金，铭款镌刻遒劲雄秀，得汉印神髓。整器保存完好，实属难得。胡文明，约于明朝万历年间，铸铜工艺名匠。云间人。擅长铸造铜炉与文房用具，能按古代式造彝、鼎、尊、卣之类极为精致的铜器。在当时的价值就很高，时称“胡炉”。配红木雕花玉钮盖与此件铜炉相得益彰，即属华而不俗的文人趣味之作。
