竹簧又称贴黄、翻黄等，清宫中则称为文竹，或取其雅。这种工艺明晚期出现于福建上杭，最能反映宫廷和地方的互动。宫中的这类制品多来自地方，亦不排除召匠入宫制造。乾隆十六年，清高宗南巡时，竹簧以采备方物而入贡，得到皇室的青睐，获得了更广泛的关注。可以说，竹簧工艺的大发展实有赖于宫廷的推动。香盒整体呈长方型，子母口合盖。以木为胎，通体包镶竹簧，盒体表面采用贴竹簧浮雕工艺，盒身周圈边饰祥云纹，盖正面雕云龙纹和海水江牙，中间留空白一条，应为刻字之用，此竹簧香盒素似黄杨而坚泽又过之，纹饰繁而不乱，工艺精湛。此盒器型精巧别致，雕刻精致，纹饰华丽，应为宫廷备用放置册页之用
